BALEARES SCENERY

by Andres Merino

"The Balearic Islands, which lie in the the Western Mediterranean off the coast of mainland Spain, were frequented in antiquity by Phoenicians, Greeks and Romans and in modern times are visited by tourists from all over the world. It would be impossible to reproduce the beauty of this Mediterranean Paradise so I have merely tried to accurately represent the basic navigational features of the waters around the islands, without attempting to reproduce the wonderful landscapes."

Nowaday it is not Optimiced. I promise to do it soon.

GIBRALTAR STRAIGHT SCENERY

by Andres Merino

"The Strait of Gibraltar is the entrance to the Mediterranean Sea.
This strait, known in antiquity as the "Pillars of Hercules," is one of the busiest maritime traffic areas in the world and its currents, shallows, fog and bad weather make passage through it a challenge for any sailor.
I have produced this scenario based on the information available for the most important harbors in the area and on experience accumulated over a long period of time by various organizations.
Nevertheless, I have had to find a balance between introducing more detail about the ports and the corresponding reduction in processing speed that this involves. I hope you enjoy using it as much as I did designing it."

Nowaday it is not Optimiced. I promise to do it soon.

SUEZ CANAL SCENERY

by Andres Merino

I want to thank here the collaboration of Victor Sootarsing who has reviewed the final design and amiably, he has not allowed me to pass errors in the models. Like always, I have paid more attention to the aspect of the professional navigation than to landscapes, but I have not neglected either to these. You should find palms, camels, cars, trucks, mosques, etc. The scenenery is designed in 29 sections.

GALICIA SCENERY

About Galicia Scenery: The Galicia coast is one of the most dangerous coast of Europe. This title has been recognised by the high number of accidents occurred in its coast. The last one is very well-known by the name of the Tanker "PRESTIGE".

Noting that it is impossible to emulate a coast like this, I try to make my best to simulate as much as it be possible this coast and its harbours, limited to Virtual Sailor capabilities. This scenery is very complex,  as long as 6 MBs so, when you download it, take it easy.

Really, the scenery is not finished. I have included already all light-houses, including its correct flash sequence. You can see this sequence in http://pollux.nss.nima.mil/pubs/. As you know I always include the most important ports of the area. In this case I have included only Vigo, El Ferrol and La Coruña harbours , at the southern and northen part of the map, into the ''fjords''. I used a new technique to design the port. You can see the result at any ports. By night it is spectacular.

I included a Readme.zip file in WordPerfec format to explain the scenery state.

The scenery includes also a set of ''VHF radio communications'' when your vessel approaches to some part of the scenery. Please, note smokes at shore plants and many lights at the country.

Be sure that the complexity of this scenery will make work to your computer. Enjoy it

CANARIAS SCENERY

Also called, "The Happy Islands "

This paradisiac group of islands, with a preferred climate and constant temperature through all the year, and
splendid beaches of fine sand, consists of 7 larger islands (Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, Tenerife, La Palma, Gomera, Hierro) and a few smaller ones (Alegranza, Graciosa, Montaña Clara, Roque del Este,
Roque del Oeste und Lobos).
Surprisingly, the landscape of each island is radically different to the others.

Already Greeks and Romans reported on this archipelago of volcanic origins, and called it the Happy
Islands, Garden of the Hesperides, Atlantida, ... Some historians suppose that the legendary continent Atlantis
was located here. The islands' original population, called Guanches, is tall and of white skin.
In 1496 the islands became part of the Spanish kingdom, and the ships of Christopher Columbus stopped here on their travel to discover the New World.

Due to the legth of the archipelago I have divided in three sceneries.

SAIN PETESBURG SCENERIES

Because the legth of this scenery, I have divided in East and West sceneries. The singularity of both sceneries is the type of navigation to use. The navigation betwing this waters are normally made visually, from buoy to buoy, more than using traditional means like course and speed.

The singularity of this scenery is the posibility to navigate from the Gibraltar Straight to the Golfo de Rosas.
